Guinea-Bissau: Church Engages in Constitutional Review

The revision of the Constitution towards presidentialism, considered essential to limit the constant political quarrels that compromise the functioning of the State, does not currently have parliamentary support due to the frontal opposition of the PAIGC and the divisions in MADEM-G15 to the concentration of powers in USE.

Contradictory interpretations of the Guinean Constitution, and their potential to trigger episodes of political and security tension, are a matter of concern for Guinea-Bissau's diocesan clergy.
