Cape Verde: Health Tourism, New Focus on Economic Diversification

The current crisis in the international tourism sector, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, has practically interrupted the entry of foreign tourists to the archipelago in the past year. Tourism is the “engine” of the Cape Verdean economy, and its current paralysis affects complementary sectors, such as trade and restaurants, contributing to the increase in unemployment, already high.
In view of the creation of a regional reference hospital center, and boosting Health Tourism, the Government will proceed with the Hospital de Cabo Verde project, building from the ground up a medium-sized hospital (134 beds) in Achada Limpo, surroundings of Praia.
The project, considered strategic, foresees the use of advanced technologies, with the participation of the State and of local and external private partners, as well as the diaspora. READ MORE
