Russia-Africa: Business Extending from Defense to New Technologies

Organized by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, the recent Russia-Africa Conference confirmed Moscow's attempt to reactivate the role it once held in Africa during the period of decolonization and post-independence, building up business opportunities through the existing political relationship.
Russian economic relations with Africa are still largely focused in the north of the continent, in particular Egypt and Algeria, which account for 2/3 of exports to Africa, but Moscow's political orientations are to accelerate investment in central and southern countries.
The Russia-Africa Conference followed up on the Russian business strategy for the continent, launched in Sochi, and predates the new Russia-Africa summit, which is expected to take place in 2022. READ MORE
