Angola: Stranglehold on Cabinda Autonomy Tightens

The change approved in committee with votes in favor of the MPLA bench, was especially dictated by concerns of the current regime in relation to Cabinda. The political reach of the decentralization institute, according to this concern, could come to be used as the “foundation” of an autonomous territorial process, unwanted by the regime.
The amendment, associated with others equally interpreted as a “regression” in relation to the 2010 constitution, reveals the “state of weakness” of the regime of JOÃO LOURENÇO (JL).
