Angola: Tactical Adjustments of the Regime in the Campaign Against Adalberto

There are no signs that the regime has reconsidered its campaign. The decision not to go back to using justice for this purpose is considered tactical. Through “active measures” to entice and recruit UNITA cadres for its efforts, it hopes to continue exerting pressure to achieve its goals.

An eventual failure of the campaign - with a return of ADALBERTO da COSTA JR. to the UNITA presidency, legitimized by a congress - would tend to be seen especially compromising for the position of FERNANDO MIALA (FM), the head of SINSE, generally identified as one of the mentors and main executor of that campaign.
