Angola: Misuse of Funds for Police Compromise Laborinho

Top officials of the National Police (PN) show, in private circles, dissatisfaction with the failure by the Ministry of Interior (MinInt) to provide funds for the acquisition of resources. In particular, the disappearance of funds made available by Endiama is criticized.

Under “Operation Transparency”, a substantial part of the diamonds recovered from illegal diggers and miners were handed over to Endiama by the police forces, for sale by SODIAM, which Endiama controls. From the proceeds of the sale, as determined, c. Kz 1,000 million (c. USD 1.7 million) were delivered by Endiama to Fundação Brilhante, so that it would forward the funds to MinInt, to be used in the purchase of equipment for the PN. READ MORE
