Mozambique: BCI Follows Trend with Appointment of Former PM to CEO

Other banks, such as ABSA Bank (formerly Barclays) have Mozambican personalities as CEO. LUÍSA DIOGO, former PM, has held the position for several years. Moza Banco, prior to the intervention of the central bank, although owned in 49% by the Portuguese Novo Banco (formerly BES), also had as CEO PRAKASH RATILAL, in this case also the “face” of Moçambique Capitais, majority shareholder with 51%.

At Standard Bank (formerly Standard Totta), ESSELINA MACOME is the CEO after replacing in NOV.2022 the Mozambican national and putative presidential candidate (AM 1309) TOMAZ SALOMÃO, who held the position of CEO for 18 years. READ MORE
