Guinea-Bissau: Economic Projects in the Electoral Equation

The wing led by MADEM-G15, from BRAIMA CAMARÁ (BC), the main government party, now has the support of the Guinean Workers Party (PTG), created in DEC.2021 by BOTCHE CANDÉ (BCA), former minister of Interior close to USE. BC came from the PAIGC and the Social Renewal Party (PRS), where he was MP in two legislatures.

In this initiative, BCA counts on the loyalty of the Fula ethnic group as the party's base of support and had the support of USE, at the time (end of 2021) in growing disagreements with the coordinator of MADEM, BC.

The initiative to create the PTG aimed to “break” the PRS. Although USE's relationship with the leader of MADEM is now pacified, BCA may come to be useful for a future political tiebreaker, similarly to what happened with the United People's Assembly - Democratic Party of Guinea-Bissau (APU-PDGB), with weak representation, but which was decisive in the creation of the government set up by USE against the PAIGC of DOMINGOS SIMÕES PEREIRA (DSP).
