Equatorial Guinea: Obiang Presidential Office Keeps Core Figures

Family and former ministers continue to prevail among PR TEODORO OBIANG (TO) advisors, appointed following the 20.NOV elections. The 11 members of the presidential cabinet, which in reality functions as the country's main executive body, from which the choice of government comes in coordination with the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE), were reappointed in almost their entirety, with no prospect of background changes in the political regime led by TO, serving his 43rd year as PR and 80 years old.

The last significant change in recent years resulted from the death of ANTÓNIO MBA NGUEMA (AMN), in 2019, one of TO's 10 brothers. AMN was Minister of Defense for many years, later becoming Minister of State and PR, responsible for security. The vacancy created by the disappearance of AMN has now been filled by ALFONSO NGUEMA ONDÓ (ANO) who has taken over as presidential security adviser. ANO was DG of the Military Cabinet of TO.
