Angola: Lussaty Case Exposes Miala-Furtado Antagonism

FERNANDO MIALA (FM), head of the internal branch of the Angolan secret services, SINSE, is pointed out in intelligence circles attentive to the country as one of the most powerful high level officials of the regime of JOÃO LOURENÇO (JL), but the relationship that he keeps with him is considered “peculiar” taking into account the presence of “mixed feelings” referenced.

Two different wings, around the PR currently adopt divergent positions: one of the referred wings, led by Gen. JOSÉ FERREIRA TAVARES (JFT), tasked with “special missions”, using informal methods, often directed at opposition political parties (AM 1344); in the formal framework four senior officials of the State apparatus (EDELTRUDES COSTA, FRANCISCO FURTADO, CAROLINA CERQUEIRA, FM).

The rivalry between the two groups around FM and FF constitutes an apprehension factor in circles close to the PR, in which JL's posture of temporizing/instrumentalizing it is seen as dangerous, bearing in mind a possibility of escalation. READ MORE
