Guinea-Bissau: Privatization of Public Telecoms Moves Forward

PR UMARO SISSOCO EMBALÓ (USE) and his government have managed to project the country internationally through the presidency of ECOWAS, obtaining funding for a set of projects considered to be structuring. Despite the history of postponed projects in the country, public works considered relevant in the context have been visible.

In the telecommunications sector, the Government is working with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank group and preparing the privatization of Guinea Telecom (GTM) and Guinetel (GNT), two public companies that have not operated for several years. The international tender for the privatization of the two telecoms is being finalized and will be launched soon – possibly during the summer. READ MORE
