Guinea-Bissau: Sissoco-Braima Conflict in Escalation

The tensions existing between BC and USE are seen in politically independent Guinean circles as “potentially dangerous” due to the behaviour of both, by their nature considered the fruit of mutual mistrust capable of degenerating into shocks.
The apparent loyalty of the current military chiefs to USE, especially that of the most important of them, the CEMGFA, Gen. BIAGUE NA N’TAM, is considered solid enough not to infuse concerns. The creation and constant strengthening of a Presidential Guard (GP), with an autonomous command and equipped with sophisticated means (AM 1440) is, however, seen as proof that such trust is not complete.
The GP's supremacy over the FA comes from factors such as the superior quality of the armament available to it, as well as the higher motivation of its troops (higher paid/better assistance).
