Angola: Forced Distancing from Russia
The openness shown by Angolan authorities towards closer relations with the US is seen in Angolan political circles as a “natural consequence” of the current JOÃO LOURENÇO regime adopting a line of increasing distancing from Russia and China, partly fueled by doubts about the “real usefulness” of relations with both countries for Angola (AM 1511).
