São Tomé and Príncipe: MPLA Sides With Vila Nova Against Former MLSTP Leader
The untimely entry into the presidential race of JORGE BOM JESUS (JBJ), former PM and former president of the MLSTP-PSD, has increased uncertainty about the outcome of the 19.JUL elections. JBJ was the penultimate candidate to submit his candidacy to the Constitutional Court (TC), when CARLOS VILA NOVA (CVN), who is running for a second term, was considered the almost certain winner of the elections, probably in the first round, against competitors without a relevant political history or experience.
