Angola: BBVA and World Bank Support Debt Amortization

The Ministry of Finance is under pressure from large debt amortizations during 2025-27, absorbing most of the foreign exchange inflows. With domestic debt already excessive, the 2026 Budget increases the risk of banks' exposure to sovereign debt, potentially leading to a combination of inflationary depreciation spiral and exclusion of credit from the private sector, depending on the response of the National Bank of Angola's monetary policy.
