Mozambique: Total CEO in Kigali and Maputo for Gas Project Resumption

Total CEO PATRICK POUYANNÉ (PP) began a discreet visit to Mozambique on 30.JAN. meeting today with PR FILIPE NYUSI (FN) in Maputo. Earlier, PP met in Kigali, Rwanda, with Rwandan head of state PAUL KAGAME (PK). On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Total and the government (Rwanda Development Board) but the central theme of the meeting was Cabo Delgado, where Rwanda sent a military and police force of over 2,500 elements for counterinsurgency actions, at the request of Total and with the support of French PR EMMANUEL MACRON (EM). Total has committed to investing in Rwanda, opening a branch in the country and it is considered plausible that the agreement, in the area of ​​renewable energies, could be a compensation for the commitment of the Rwandan military in Cabo Delgado.
