Mozambique: Terms of Assistance Divide Government and IMF
The IMF is now defining conditions and reforms and insisting on the need for the government to move forward with spending cuts, namely in public administration, starting with reducing salaries and the number of public employees. The IMF's assessment in MAR. confirmed that any assistance program for the country will have to go through reforms in Maputo's economic policy, as already unofficially implied after the November 2025 mission (AM Flash 26-10).
