CPLP: Angola and Timor-Leste Take Over Organization Undermined by Infighting
The most recent audit of the accounts of the CPLP Executive Secretariat (SECPLP), completed by the audit courts of Portugal and São Tomé and Príncipe at the end of 2020, detected several internal irregularities and lack of transparency.
As verified, the conclusions of the audit and suspicions of fraud with funds from Member States, namely from Portugal and Timor-Leste, accentuated the climate of internal conflict in the top structures of the SE CPLP, on the eve of the beginning of ZACARIAS COSTA's functions ( ZC), former Timorese MNE.
The results of the internal audit of the SECPLP, together with the documentation supporting the accusation against those responsible for the SECPLP, indicate a significant vulnerability of the organization to private interests, especially of older employees and therefore better able to manipulate its fragile internal control systems.
